     Tears of Joy & Sadness

                                       ©Cheryl Stevenson July 2011

I have tears of joy, but also tears of great sadness!

The joy in knowing all of you & knowing that we are not alone,

but on this journey together.

The joy of knowing that we all have a chance to

make a difference in people's lives.

Tears of sadness because of why we all need to be here.

Sadness in knowing that there are many, many, many more people

who need us, who just haven't found us yet.

Will we reach them in time?

How long will it take for them to find us?

Will they allow us to reach out & touch them with our words, hearts & laughter?

Feelings of sadness, because in order to help bring awareness, we need more members.

More members, more heartache, more tears, more sorrow, more anger & more denial.

More joy, more laughter, more friendships, more hearts opened, more smiles, more hugs.

With good friends, there will be much joy, among the sorrow, loneliness, frustration & anger.

Together we can all navigate this journey!

I wrote this soon after we reached our 1,000th member on Memory People. I guess that I felt inspired to write this. This is also the 1st poem that I wrote!
