The neurologist was looking at possible side effects with one or more of my medications. I don’t remember whether there actually was a problem with any of them. I know that I can trace my memory impairment symptoms back to at least the fall of 1999 which means that I was forty-one years old. I was diagnosed at age forty-seven. I think that I have struggled with my comprehension my whole life, but adding the memory impairment symptoms just takes it to a different level.
After the neurologist talked to my husband and I, he performed a mini mental test. I didn’t perform very well on this test and he agreed that I was having some neurological problems. He ordered a pet scan, sleep-deprived eeg and a sleep study.
The neurologist said that I needed to have more tests done so that he could rule out Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease (EOAD). After all the tests were done and evaluated, I returned for a follow-up appointment to get the results from all of the testing.
