The challenges with coloring my hair

Some days, I function fairly well and with very little to no fog. Unfortunately, while coloring my hair yesterday was not one of those days.
About once a month, I touch up my hair color. Yesterday I had a little anxiety with doing this. I worried that the color is too dark because I can’t remember what it should look like on my hair while it is processing. I can't seem to remember that it always looks darker than my hair actually comes out.
When I'm mixing the color with the developer, I have to remind myself that the color is very dark, but that my hair doesn't come out that dark. If I don't remember to do this, I will panic and I won't leave it on long enough and it won't cover up the gray hair as well. It is sometimes difficult for me to remember this, but I just do the best that I can. Sometimes when I color my hair, everything will be fine and I won't worry about what the color looks like.
I brushed it on my hair and I set the timer and hoped for the best! After rinsing the color out of my hair and drying it, I noticed that the color was just fine, as always. I just wished that I would remember what the color should look like, so that I wouldn’t worry so much about it. I think that I have been coloring my hair for at least five years.
I don't have any trouble mixing the ingredients, but sometimes I can't remember if the color looks right. I wished that I could because I wouldn't be so worried.
This is definitely not a big deal but sometimes it does bother me because I think that this should be in my long- term memory. There are things more severe that I have to deal with.
