I was not understanding what my mom was saying
Yesterday I went to visit my mom. I brought an apple pie that I had made. When it was time to eat the pie, I heated up the oven and put it in. My mom was asking me how long it would take and I told her about twenty minutes. She said that we should have probably put it in the oven an hour ago! So now I was feeling like she was mad at me. I told her that I was sorry and that I would do my best to get the pie ready.
Then she said, “I was only kidding, I wasn’t really mad at you.” I told her that I didn’t know that. Then she said that she was sorry and I said that wasn’t necessary. My mom said that it was necessary because I had somehow taken her seriously. She said that she would never say anything to hurt me! This is just something that can happen to me because sometimes I don’t really understand the words that are being said to me. Overall, it was a really good visit with her. This is an example of how there are times when I don't really understand humor. Before the mild cognitive impairment symptoms, I don't think that this was a problem for me.
