Last night, after I got home from working both of my jobs, I noticed that I had a message on my answering machine, so I played it. It was from a new neurologist’s office that I had called. They left a brief message, with a person to contact and a phone number.
I got a piece of paper and replayed the message so that I could write down the person’s name and phone number from the doctor's office. The problem was, I could only write down the first two numbers, even though I heard all seven numbers. The person leaving the message said the first two numbers, then a slight pause, then the other five numbers. I think that this was difficult for me because I think that I am used to hearing phone numbers with the first three numbers, then a pause, then the next four numbers.
I must have played this message four to six times before I was finally able to write all of the numbers down on a piece of paper. This was so frustrating!
I also know that when I call out sick at the retail store that I work at, I need to write an eight-digit confirmation number down. It will usually take me three or more times before I can get it all written down.
