Keeping a sense of humor

Today was an interesting day for me. I started out working at school working in a kindergarten classroom. This is a classroom that I work in each day. For some reason, this morning, my brain just wasn’t right and I realized that very quickly. I looked at the wipe-off board that the teacher had written the date on it, but it still had yesterday’s date. It said 6-5-14, my brain read this not as a date, but rather a subtraction problem. My brain read it like this: six minus five equals fourteen. Even my brain knew that didn’t make sense. After a few minutes, I was able to figure out that it was actually yesterday’s date and not a math problem. I used a wipe-off marker and changed the day from the 5th to the 6th.

When I got home, I was on my social media playing some word games. I played one game and I read the last word that someone had played earlier today. It was the word “digested”, such as my food digested within thirty minutes. For some reason I read this word as dig est, like the word dig (the puppy likes to dig holes) but with est at the end. Well, that didn’t seem to make sense, even to me, so I looked at the word again. Now I read it correctly and I just had to chuckle to myself! It still feels really weird when this happens, but luckily it is manageable. Luckily, most of the time, I just take it in stride. Overall, it was a good day! Luckily, these are little "bumps" in my road of life!

I often tell my good friend that my worst personality trait is that I can be a little stubborn. But for the most part, that trait has served me well. It means that I don't give up easily and that I will usually continue to figure things out. Although sometimes I can be my own worst enemy! During those very difficult times, when the fog is fairly thick and things are much more difficult than today, I can get very discouraged. There are moments when I just have a "meltdown", which means that I cry!
