(Chapter 13 Interaction with Spouse or Significant Other in my book)
Dealing with my memory problems
I really hate when I don't understand something! It can be frustrating for me and I can feel hurt. A short time ago, I went to give my boyfriend a kiss and our lips hardly touched. I really didn't understand what happened, so I teasingly said, “you're a meanie”. I guess I was feeling rejected. He said, “honey, I'm not being mean, I'm being gentle because you have five stitches on your upper lip. I didn't want to hurt you.” (This was from a bad fall that I recently had.) I told him that I was sorry and he said that wasn't necessary. I guess I forgot about the stitches!
I hate when having a memory impairment seems to add drama to my life. I really prefer to avoid drama. I hate how this memory impairment makes me feel and how it affects my relationships with people who I love. A short time later, I had forgotten about the stitches on my lip and I tried to kiss him again. Our lips touched lightly, but I was okay with that. I guess for now I need to let him kiss me, until I have healed. There are so many things that I forget and sometimes it happens within moments! Right now, I need to try to make some adjustments because of these injuries. Thankfully, he is patient and understanding.
