(Chapter 18 Problem Solving and Making Decisions in my book)
Sometimes it is so strange how my brain functions. Over the summer, I have been making different kinds of homemade jam. I love making and sharing the jam with my family and friends! I had thought about sending some jam to a friend who lives out of state but knowing I would be shipping glass jars and they could break; I just couldn't figure out how to mail them safely. Last weekend, I took a small fan out of a box, so that I could use it. Suddenly something clicked in my brain and I thought that two or three jars of jam could fit in that box. It was a "light bulb" moment.
Later that day, I found some bubble wrap, wrapped each jar separately. First, I stood two jars up vertically in the box. Then I was able to wrap another jar in bubble wrap and place it on top of the other two jars laying down. I taped the box up, wrapped it in brown paper and addressed it. On Monday morning, I mailed it to my friends. On Wednesday evening, I received a phone call from my friend and she thanked me for the jam and said that it had arrived safely.
I really think that if I didn't have a memory impairment, I could have figured this out sooner. Why couldn't I figure how to mail the jam in a box and wrapping them with bubble wrap? I'm just glad that I was finally able to figure it out.
I know that it is not my fault that I couldn't figure this out more quickly, but it still doesn't make me feel very smart, that I couldn't figure this out. It can become so frustrating!
