(Chapter 16 The Many Problems with Words in my book)
Sometimes someone will say something to me and I can respond right away, as if there is nothing wrong with my brain. But there are other times, when all I need is a little extra “processing” time in order for me to understand and respond. If this happens with a friend and I, I will just let them know that I need some extra time to figure it out and she will wait for me to respond. I will either respond with an appropriate answer or I will let her know that I don't understand what she is saying or asking me. She will then rephrase it and sometimes it helps. There are also times when even with that extra processing time and or rephrasing it, I still cannot respond due to my lack of comprehension. That is just the way it is and I've learned to accept it. I hope that this information helps people.
