(Chapter 14 Comprehension Problems in my book)
Yesterday was a cool, but sunny day, so I thought that I'd take a ride up north. I wanted to look at the foliage and take some photos. I was going on this drive alone, which is not usually a problem for me, but yesterday I had to go through a toll booth. I don't go through the tolls too often, so I guess that would explain my confusion. As I was driving closer to the tolls, there was a sign that read “cash only” drivers in the right-hand lanes and easy pass were in the left lanes. So, I stayed in the right lanes, but then it looked like it was going to force me to take an exit that I didn't want to take, so I got in one of the left-hand lanes. As I approached the tolls, I realized, that I had accidentally gotten in the Easy Pass lane, so there was no way for me to pay the toll. I was a little bit worried, but I continued on my drive. I even looked in my rear-view mirror, afraid that the police would be pulling me over! On the way back home, I made sure that I was in the correct lane in order to pay the toll. I never could have imagined that a trip through a toll booth could cause so much confusion, but on this particular day it did.
I am not working, so I have a very limited income. I was so afraid that if they got my license plate on camera and I was going to be getting a huge fine in the mail. This morning, I decided to go on my computer and find the correct website to get a phone number so that I could talk to someone. I called the phone number that I found and I called and told a woman what happened yesterday. She told me that I needed to go on the easy pass NH website. I had her stay on the line, while she walked me through the beginning of it. She also gave me a phone number to call, in case I had any problems with the website. Luckily, I was able to pay for my toll online successfully. I'm so happy that I was able to figure this out, mostly on my own, because I can't really afford an expensive fine. Crisis averted! Thank God!
On a positive note, the foliage was very beautiful! Chances are, I probably won't remember this problem, the next time that I go through the tolls, because I don't do it that often, it is not in my long-term memory. Oh well, just another adventure!
