(Chapter 16 The Many Problems with Words in my book)

Lately, when I'm talking, if I use the word “gotten”, I will correct myself and say “got." A few days ago, it happened again, so I asked my friend if it was a word. She said that she thought that it was a word and she looked it up online and the website said that it was. For some reason, this word is not making sense in my brain, as if it is a slang word or a word that it is unfamiliar to me. I catch myself trying to use it, but I automatically change it to “got”. It just doesn't sound right to me so I cannot use it. I'm not sure why this is happening, but hopefully it will stop. What is strange is the other day online, I commented on a post and I used the word “forgotten”. That seemed to make sense in my brain. This is just one way that language is affected by my memory impairment.
