(Chapter 13 Interaction with Spouse or Significant Other in my book)

The other day, my boyfriend and I were watching tv at my place. He said something to me. Soon after he said it, he asked me if I heard him because he was waiting for a response. I got a little mad and I almost cried. Then I said that I had heard him. I told him that he shouldn't be expecting a response from me immediately because sometimes that doesn't happen for me. Sometimes I just need some extra “processing time”, then I can respond. He apologized for not having patience. I hope that now he understands.

There are other times when even after spending this time figuring it out, I will have to let him know that I really don't understand his words. He will usually reword it. Sometimes that will be enough for me to understand and sometimes it isn't. That is just the way it is. Sometimes we will have to just move on and talk about something else.
