(Chapter 8 Confused in my book)
Earlier today, I went to visit a friend's new apartment. I used my navigation system in my car and I was able to find it. The apartment was only about ten minutes from where I live, but I had never been there before. As I pulled into the driveway, I saw their vehicle, so I knew that I was at the right place. The confusion started after I got out of my vehicle and I tried to figure out which door was the correct one. It was a split-level house, that had been turned into a two-family home.
Since I couldn't figure this out, I got back into my vehicle and I called my friend from my cell phone. Unfortunately, all I got was their voicemail, so I left a message asking them to call my cell phone. I waited a short time in the driveway, but they didn't call me back, so I drove home.
About an hour later, when I didn't hear from them, I decided to call them again. This time they answered the phone. I told them that an hour ago, I had stopped by to see them. They said that I should have come to the door. I told them that there were too many doors for me to deal with! They said that if I had walked up to the “main door”, (as if I knew which one that was), I would have seen a doorbell with their name next to it.
Oh, the confusion for someone who lives with a memory impairment! Sometimes, the simplest things can be so confusing. In reality, I think that this should have been an easy task but it wasn't so easy for me.
We decided to try to meet again the next day. So, I used my gps, but for some reason, it took me to a different place, that wasn't theirs. So, I called my friend and told them what number mailbox I was at. They told me to drive a little further up the hill. Of course, I hadn't remembered if I went up that hill last night or not. They said they would be at the end of the driveway, so I could find them. I drove a very short distance, perhaps only a few houses further until I saw my friend. After I got out of my vehicle, they had me follow them to the correct door and they showed me the doorbell with their name next to it.
