(Chapter 12 Navigating Relationships While Living with a Memory Impairment in my book)
If someone in my life is not going to try to understand what it is like for me but instead act like I’m stupid, it is their problem and not mine. I will most likely distance myself from them. Sometimes I can feel stupid because of my MCI symptoms and I don’t need anyone who cares about me making me feel bad when this is not something that I can change. People who love me or just work with me, or we are close friends, need to learn how to adjust to the way I am now, because I can't do anything to change my brain.
