(Chapter 8 Confused in my book)
Today, I was participating in a weekly video support group meeting on social media. All of the people at this meeting have a memory impairment diagnosis. I think that I'm the only one who doesn't have dementia. My diagnosis is (MCI) – Mild Cognitive Impairment. A man was talking about his love of reading and I asked him if he had any trouble reading a book. He said that he didn't read for as long a period of time as he once did, but he can still remember what he reads and is able to follow a story line. I asked him what his diagnosis was and I think that he said that it was FTD.
That really makes me confused because he has a form of dementia but can still enjoy reading a book and I don't have dementia, but I can no longer read a book. I had to stop reading books many years ago because I can’t remember what I read from one page to the next and sometimes from paragraph to the next. Another problem that I have is with my comprehension, so that impacts me when I'm reading.
