(Chapter 6 Living with a Memory Impairment in my book)
Because of a very bad fall in 2014, I had to stop working. Since Jan. 2016, my monthly take home pay is around $500. less per month than what it was when I was working two jobs. My disability check covers my rent, but not much more than that, so I have had to dip into my savings in order to survive. Recently, I realized that this was not a small problem but rather a HUGE problem! I can't afford to do this much longer and I was in tears! I have lived in my apartment for about nine years. When I paid my rent for this month, I talked to my landlord about the problem that I was having. I told him that I would be applying for cheaper housing.
There are so many things that affect my cognition with this move and it is very concerning to me, but I don't have any way of changing this. The layout of a new apartment will probably be totally different than what I have been used to for nine years. The location of the bathroom in relation to my bedroom might also be different. This might make it complicated for me if I get up in the middle of night to go to the bathroom. Another challenge is going to be arranging all my kitchen items in the cabinets, so that I can easily find them. Then arranging all of my things in the different closets. I'm exhausted and worried just thinking about it!
