(Chapter 7 Driving While Living with a Memory Impairment in my book)

In 2005, I was diagnosed with MCI, at age forty-seven, but I can trace some of the symptoms back to the fall of 1999. I am still driving because I don't really have any issues with it. I can drive to where I want to go and not get lost. I have made a decision that if the "fog" starts to happen while I'm driving, I will need to call my neurologist. We will have to make the best decision to keep me safe. I don't believe that I have ever had the "fog" while driving and I'm so very thankful for that! If it does happen, will I be able to continue driving safely, or will I get so confused that I won't know what to do and possibly get lost? Will I know to call someone to help me? I have no way of knowing how that could play out.
