(Chapter 12 Navigating Relationships While Living with a Memory Impairment in my book)
Today I spent some time with a close friend. I had seen her about five days ago. At that time, I had a sty or pimple on the bottom of the inside part of my lower eyelid and I showed it to her. I have been putting a prescription ointment on it for about three days. Over the past three days I thought that my eye looked a little better but I couldn't really be sure. That is because I have a problem with my short-term memory. In order for me to look at my eye and know whether it looks better, I need to be able to remember what it looked like four days ago. Since I can't really remember that, I'm going to go with what I do remember which is I think that it is less painful. Because I have a hard time remembering what it looked like before I started using the medicine, that makes it difficult to try to compare it to what it looks like now. The only thing that I do know is that the pain is much better.
Today when I saw my friend, I showed her my eye and I asked her if it looked better than the other day and she said, “yes it looks much better.”
