Dealing with my lack of comprehension

(Chapter 14 Comprehension Problems in my book)

I read a description on the tv about a movie that I wanted to watch and at first, I couldn’t read the word “pleas”. It was as if my brain thought it was missing the letter “e” to make it please, yet that wouldn’t have made sense in the sentence. I’m wondering if I didn’t recognize the word. I guess it is a word that I don’t use that often. Perhaps that is why it happened. It is just weird!
