(Chapter 14 Comprehension Problems in my book)

Today I took out my sewing machine so that I could get some sewing done. I know that I have used this sewing machine before but I can't remember when it was. The first thing that I needed to do was to wind a new bobbin with white thread. I got out the instruction book and luckily, I was able to follow it so that I could get this done. Then I put the bobbin in the bottom part of the sewing machine and I got the bobbin thread to come up. All of these things seemed to go well.

Then I got a piece of scrap material to make sure that the stitches were correct. The stitches were too loose on the top and bottom. I had to look at the instruction book in order to fix this. One step at a time which means that I tightened the top stitches first. Then I had to figure out how to tighten the bottom thread. I figured out that I had installed the bobbin incorrectly so I had to fix it.

A couple nights later I needed to use the sewing machine again. I had to wind a bobbin with blue thread. By following the instructions, I was able to get this done successfully. Then I had to look at the instruction booklet in order to install the bobbin correctly. After thinking that I threaded the machine and installed the bobbin correctly, I tried to sew on a piece of scrap material. It was a disaster because the bobbin thread got all tangled up. I had to cut the bobbin thread in order to get it untangled! This is so frustrating! I took the bobbin out and I put it back in. I tried to sew again but the same thing happened and I was not happy! I had to take care of the tangled mess! I took the bobbin out a third time and I decided to turn it around so the thread would be going in the opposite direction. I was thinking that I wasn't understanding the directions even with illustrations. I guess that it was too confusing for me! I tried to sew again but the thread got tangled and the needle even came out. I had to look in the booklet so that I could reinstall the needle.

Since it seemed like things kept going wrong, I decided to re-thread the top thread. Then I took the bobbin thread out and I used the instruction booklet and I reinstalled that. This time when I installed the bobbin thread, I noticed that I was doing it a little different. I hoped for the best because I was running out of patience. I was feeling tired and defeated! This was the last time that I was going to try this tonight!

I tried to sew on a piece of scrap material. Yeah! The stitches looked great! I was relieved and happy! Finally, I was able to get some sewing done without any problems. It was so good to get this done. Since I knew that I would probably need white thread next, I decided to re thread the sewing machine with white top and bobbin thread. Luckily, it was a success! I am done for tonight and I am so glad that it finally worked out.
