(Chapter 8 Confused in my book)
Today I went to the movie theater with my eighty-four-year-old mom. This is something that we have done before but only a couple times a year. Since I live an hour from her, this is not a movie theater that I am that familiar with.
After we watched some of the movie, my Mom told me that she had to go to the ladies’ room. I told her that I would go with her. We walked until we saw the ladies room sign. I’m not sure when my confusion rolled in but it definitely was a problem as we got closer to the ladies’ room sign. I saw a door that said private and it was locked. I even tried to open it, thinking that was the entrance to the ladies’ room. I told my mom that I didn’t know how to get into the ladies’ room. We just stood there for several minutes because neither one of us could really figure this out. Then someone came out of the ladies’ room by an opening, no door. So, I told my mom that must be the way in and out. If someone hadn’t come out of the ladies’ room, who knows how long the two of us would have been standing there trying to figure it out. It is always an adventure while living with (MCI)- mild cognitive impairment. Fourteen years later and sometimes I wonder if I will ever get used to this.
