(Chapter 13 Interaction with Spouse or Significant Other & Chapter 26 MCI Tool Box in my book)
In the past I have dated while living with a memory impairment and it can be a very tricky adventure. If I start dating someone new, I will not tell them about my diagnosis. I will wait to see if we have a strong connection. I don't think that I will know everything about them, so they really don't need to know everything about me. I want someone new that I meet to get to know "me" first before they know about my diagnosis. I dated a guy for about three months and I'm pretty sure that he didn't know that anything was wrong. I feel that anyone who truly cares about someone with this diagnosis will accept it and learn how to deal with the challenges that it creates. It isn't easy having any relationship while living with a memory impairment. The diagnosis and its symptoms complicate things. You just have to learn how to deal with it.
