(Chapter 4 Finding the Humor in my book)

Today I went shopping at a small store. I was able to park close to the door, so before I got out of my vehicle, I was reading a sign that was on the door. I think that it read “Seniors Only 9-10 am”. Since I was there in the afternoon, I was wondering if I could go shopping or if I would have to come back during those hours. These were my thoughts the first time that I read this sign. I just never know when my comprehension is not going to work right. I decided to read the sign a couple more times and really think about it. This took a few minutes but luckily, I was able to figure out that the 1st time that I read it, I was not comprehending it right. I just never know when I'm going to understand something and when I am not.

I got out of my vehicle and I walked to the door. As I opened it, I read the sign again. I just felt like shaking my head but I don't think that I did. I'm very happy that I was able to find the humor in this mistake. I'm also glad that I was able to figure this out before I drove home without going shopping. I remember being totally confused!

I know that when I was younger, I also had problems with my comprehension, so this is something that I have dealt with most of my life. I think that when I was growing up it was more related to school and reading. Now with the memory impairment it seems to be connected to that.

I just need to find the humor when these things happen. Luckily, I was by myself. Otherwise, I might have been embarrassed.
