(Chapter 1 Symptoms and Diagnosis in my book)
Although I was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) at age forty-seven, I can actually trace some of my symptoms back to the fall of 1999. That means that I probably started having MCI symptoms at age forty-one. Recently I realized that in three years my daughter will be forty-one. Sometimes it is hard for me not to be concerned about whether MCI will enter any of my three children's lives, but I try not to focus on the "what ifs".
