Dec. 8, 2015 (Chapter 2 Acceptance and Denial in my book)
Acceptance
I don't think that acceptance only happens right after you are diagnosed with a memory impairment. In 2012 when I started dating, acceptance took on a different meaning for me. Over more than three years since we started dating, I know that he holds many more memories of “us” than I do. At first, that would make me sad and sometimes I would cry. But over time I have learned to accept that as part of our life together. I accept that anyone who I have a relationship with, whether it be family, friends or a boyfriend, that they will hold many more memories of our time together or conversations than I will. That is just my reality and I get it.
