Jan. 6, 2019 (Chapter 25 Caregiver Tips in my book)
If someone is waiting for a quick response from someone who has a memory impairment, I think that they need to understand what it is like. Sometimes it takes more time to process words that are on the computer or said to me. Someone who is waiting for a “quick” response seems a little clueless to me. Dealing with a memory impairment takes an enormous amount of patience by the person who has the impairment as well as the people who they interact with them. Things are constantly changing with my cognition and I have to learn to change with it. I think that education is key for the communication to continue to work.
