Oct. 3, 2017 (Chapter 6 Living with a Memory Impairment & Chapter 23 Living with a Memory Impairment and being a Nana in my book)

In about two months, I will become a grandmother for the first time. In July and August, I crocheted two baby blankets for my twin granddaughters. I think the last time that I crocheted was around twenty-five years ago. So, the skill of crocheting is still in my long-term memory. What concerned me as I decided to crochet these baby blankets was learning a pattern that I wasn't familiar with. Luckily, I was able to find a pattern that I liked and it included a video. I found some old yarn and the right size crochet hook and I started to crochet. As I worked on this practice piece, I could tell that it didn't look right, so I pulled out a couple of rows, rewound the video and started again. I think that I had to do this several times before I finally got used to the pattern. I decided to work on this pattern for about fifteen rows. I looked at what I had finished and compared it to the one on the video. It looked great! The next day, I went online and found some baby yarn and ordered it.

After I finished both baby blankets, I decided to start another project. I found a pattern for a baby rattle blocks that you crochet. The pattern was pretty easy to follow, so I was able to make these without any problem. Except after I finished the first block, I went to bed and before I fell asleep, I realized that I had forgot to do something to the block. I had remembered to stuff them with fiber fill, but I had forgotten to put the container with a bead inside, so it would make a rattle sound. When I got up the next morning, I figured out how to take out one side of stitching on the block. Then I put the prepared container in block and surrounded it with the fiber fill. Then I restitched the side of the block and it was finally done correctly.

For my next project, I chose to crochet baby headbands. I found videos online for the headband, rose and leaf. As I crocheted the headband, it was fairly easy, so there were no problems with it. The problems happened when I crocheted the rose that went on the headband. That was a little more difficult, but luckily, I stuck with it because I can be stubborn! After a couple of tries, I was able to figure it out. Then came time for the leaf, and I was happy because it was very easy to do.
