Jan. 19, 2021 (Chapter 6 Living with a Memory Impairment & Chapter 14 Comprehension Problems in my book)

Today I got a reminder notice in the mail to pay my cable bill. The problem is that I paid it online on Jan. 10th. I called the customer service number that was on the bill and all I could get was the STUPID automated system. That didn’t help since I wanted to talk to an actual person! I’m so frustrated! There is a chance that the payment was not posted to my account before the new bill was sent but I need to confirm that with them. The STUPID automated system told me that they sent me a link to my cell phone. It told me to check that. I found the text and it meant NOTHING to me! The stupid cable company hung up on me! I had a total melt-down with lots of tears!

I’m pretty sure that before my memory impairment that this wouldn’t have happened! These STUPID automated systems do not work for my brain! I know that talking to a person who I can ask questions to works much better. Although, sometimes even talking to a person doesn’t work either. But if I still don’t comprehend what they are saying, I can just ask them to repeat it. Sometimes just hearing it twice helps me understand. I just do the best that I can. I really hate how mild cognitive impairment sometimes makes me feel! It makes me feel STUPID! I am crying, all over an automated system that doesn’t consider the needs of people like me or many others who struggle like this!

A short time later, I decided to go online and check my account. Thankfully, I was able to figure out that my payment didn’t post until after this bill went out. I’m so glad that I was able to figure it out.
