Knowing that I have so many lost memories

Sometimes living with a memory impairment can be very difficult. I just remind myself that I need to focus on what I can remember. Living with mild cognitive impairment, I have realized that there are lots of missing memories of my three children growing up. This makes me sad but there is nothing that I can do about this. I have accepted this and I know that it is not my fault. I try to remember to take lots of photos to help me when I can’t remember.

I am pretty sure that I have many more vivid details of my daughter and the least number of memories of my two sons. My children are twenty-nine, thirty-three and thirty-seven years old. I think that this is because my daughter is the oldest, so the details of her childhood are more long term than my sons. There is about three and half years between my daughter and her oldest brother and there is about four and half years between my two sons.
