August 23, 2019 (Chapter 6 Living with a Memory Impairment in my book)

I saw this post on social media, “Reading gives us some place to go when we have to stay where we are.”

This was my comment, Unfortunately, mild cognitive impairment has taken this from me. I used to love to curl up with a good book. I can’t remember what I read from one page to the next and sometimes from one paragraph to the next. That makes it impossible for me to follow a story line. Once in a while I will read a book but it only works for me if the stories are very short, about one to three pages long. Even if I have to read the story a few times to understand it, that is fine. In the end, I can read, remember and comprehend what I have read. That makes me happy!
