Dec. 16, 2019 (Chapter 6 Living with a Memory Impairment & Chapter 24 My Thoughts and Feelings in my book)

I think that with the memory impairment, I can be a little less outgoing with new people who I meet. I don’t think that this was happening before the memory impairment. Living with a memory impairment has changed me in so many ways and this is just one of the ways that mild cognitive impairment has changed me. I consider myself to be pretty outgoing, but living with a memory impairment, that is very now very different. I think the reason that this has happened is because I don’t want someone who just meets me to know that I have MCI. I already have a little anxiety when I meet someone new because I’m afraid that they will be able to notice that I’m not functioning right.

I always choose who I tell about my diagnosis and who I don’t tell. I always want someone to get to know “me” before they know about my diagnosis.
