Memory problems

Today I went to a Covid-19 training for the senior companion program that I volunteer with. Before the training, I was talking to a friend who is also a senior companion. I was showing her a photo on my cell phone of my new granddaughter. As I showed her the photo, I searched my brain for her name. Luckily, it only took a short time to find it. Then I was able to tell her my new granddaughter’s name. For me, there was a slight pause in retrieving her name in my brain but I don’t know my friend was aware of this. She doesn’t know about my memory impairment. It makes me sad that my granddaughter’s name wasn’t towards the front of my brain. Instead, it took some time to find it. I am just so thankful that I was able to remember it. I would have been so embarrassed if I couldn’t tell my friend my granddaughter’s name. I think that I just need to continue to work on getting her name into my long-term memory. I’m very confident that will happen! My granddaughter was born on June twenty-ninth, which was eleven days ago.
