My advice to someone is to try to surround yourself with people who are kind, patient and understanding. You don't need people in your life who are unkind, impatient or critical of you. If someone is not being supportive, you should talk to them and let them know. You could also tell them how they can help you. Being in relationships that are not supportive, when you are dealing with a memory impairment just adds stress to your life. For me, increased stress usually increases my mild cognitive impairment symptoms. That is something that I try to avoid whenever I can do so.
