Sept. 7, 2020 (Chapter 14 Comprehension Problems in my book)
Today I decided to change the filter in my water pitcher. I know that I have done this many times but I don't know how often that is. On the side of the filter box, it showed four pictures with text to the right of them. It was installation instructions with four steps. Step one - Soak Filter - soak filter upright in tap water. Submerge fifteen minutes. Step Two - Flush the filter by holding upright under running tap water for fifteen seconds. Step three - Drain Excess Water - allow excess water to drain completely from filter. Step Four - Install filter in pitcher -Be sure filter is securely seated into the filter port. Use the first two pitchers of filtered water to water plants or simply discard. I would think that most people could follow these directions but not me! I totally skipped step one. I followed steps two, three and four. That is when I realized that I made a mistake so I started all over again with step one. This task was confusing and frustrating. After starting again, I was successful!
I know that I read the directions more than once and I also looked at the pictures more than once. I think that the reason that I installed this filter incorrectly was because I saw the number fifteen twice. I didn't comprehend it as two different steps, which is the way that I should have understood it.
