My lack of comprehension

Today, my lack of comprehension is really getting to me! It doesn’t help that I just had to deal with an online tax website. I haven’t had to file taxes for quite a few years because I don’t have any income except social security. Unfortunately, I was forced to figure out how to fill out a 1040 tax form. That is because over a month ago, I was told by the IRS that was the only way that I was going to get the $600 Covid relief check. I think that I figured it out, so hopefully I should be getting that money. The tax site drove me crazy because there was so much to read, comprehend and respond to. Each new page on the website showed an option that I had to uncheck a box, so my taxes were done for free. It was overwhelming for me to deal with this numerous times! These things are not easy for me to deal with! At one point, I had filled out everything that I needed to but the site kept bringing me to a different page that I didn’t need. I kept yelling at my computer screen, “just let me file my taxes. Please stop the madness!” Thankfully, I was able to get it filed!

I know that when I was working that I used one of the online tax sites to file my taxes. I thought that it was fairly simple because all I had to do was look at the correct numbered box on my W2 that was the same on my computer screen. Then type in the information. The only thing that was a pain was that even though the site said “free”, they kept giving me an option to pay for it. I had to keep unchecking the right box so that I wouldn’t be charged for doing my taxes.

Over the past month, I have called different agencies, left my information for someone to call me back. No one called me back to set up an appointment so they could me fill out the 1040 form. I was so frustrated with no one calling me back that I had to try to figure it out on my own. I really didn’t have a choice! Doing this was very stressful for me! I’m so relieved that is done!

Later today, I got an e-mail saying that my tax form had been accepted.

UPDATE:

On April 5, 2021, I received my $600 check and on April 13 I got my $1,400 check.
