Today, I spent the day with my three granddaughters and my daughter. As usual, it was fun! After I arrived at their home, I took my shoes off and left them in the hallway outside the playroom. I also left my bag on the floor next to my shoes. It had some coloring pages for my granddaughters. The other day it was a famous children’s author’s birthday, so I went online and I found a birthday coloring page. It even said happy birthday and the author’s name. I printed up one for each of my oldest granddaughters. This is an author that I first introduced them to over a year ago. They have many books by this author because they enjoy the books.
Both of my three-year-old granddaughters greeted me with hugs. Then I went into the playroom and I was talking to their other Nana, who was visiting from out of state. I told my granddaughters that I had some coloring pages in my bag for them. I told Ellie that she could get them out of my bag. I said that it was in the hallway. She was not able to find them so she came back into the playroom with nothing. I asked her if she looked in my bag and she said yes. I went to check my bag and I didn’t find the coloring pages. When I went back into the playroom, I saw the coloring pages on the top of a bookshelf. I told Ellie that I was sorry but I must have taken them out of my bag, but I had forgot. This probably happened a few minutes earlier and I had no memory of taking them out of my bag. I really hate when this happens but there is nothing that I can do to prevent this from happening. As my granddaughters get older, they will just have to get used to me forgetting things.
