Oct. 21, 2020 (Chapter 16 The Many Problems with Words in my book)
Today I tried to write the word "symptoms". This is what I wrote "sypmtoms". I had no idea if it was spelled right or not. I went on my computer and I did a search. I typed "symptoms". This is really strange. Why did I spell the word correctly when I typed it but misspelled it when I wrote it out?
I decided to do another search on my computer to see if I could find out the answer to this question. I typed in, " do you use a different part of your brain when you print compared to when you type?" This is what came up. "Brain scans show that more of the areas of the brain associated with memory formation are activated when writing than when typing. Work by researchers Mueller and Oppenheimer demonstrates that when people take lecture notes by hand, rather than typing, they learn more."
I guess because I had the opposite results, I have no clue why I couldn't spell the word correctly when I wrote it out. I think that I will monitor this to see if this is something new and random or if this is going to my new norm.
