Unexpected inspiration to write

Recently, I was listening to a radio show about dementia. I was suddenly inspired with the words to write the poem My Heart Remembers from start to finish in about thirty minutes.

The line about the hug, I think that on this day, for a short time I didn't know who my very good friend was. Perhaps a little fog invaded my brain, if only for a short time. I think that when the hug happened, I truly didn't know who she was and I don't hug strangers.

I still don't understand why I can write these poems, but I'm driven by something to write them, so I do. I may never understand it and that is okay.
