What I did to remind me of something

January 17, 2021 (Chapter 26 MCI Tool Box in my book)
This morning when I was taking something out of the refrigerator for my breakfast, I saw a roast beef that I had taken out of the freezer yesterday to thaw out. I felt it and I knew that I could cook it today. The problem is will I remember to cook this for dinner tonight? I could open my refrigerator twenty times between now and then and not make the connection that I’m supposed to cook that for dinner tonight. I decided to do something to help me remember. I took the pan out of my cabinet that I use to cook it in and a can of non-stick spray. Now I shouldn’t forget to cook this roast for dinner. I’m pretty sure that before I had a memory impairment that I wouldn’t need to do this. I would just remember to cook it. I have been living with mild cognitive impairment for a little over fifteen years and I continue to find things that help me function.
A few hours later when I opened the refrigerator, I thought of something else that I didn’t want to forget. I wanted to make a baked potato so I took one potato out of the bag in the refrigerator. I put it next to the roast in the refrigerator. Now I won’t forget to bake the potato.
UPDATE: This worked out perfectly because I remembered to cook the roast beef and the potato.
