Sept. 27, 2020 (Chapter 25 Caregiver Tips in my book)
They can remember a movie very vividly but not getting a $10,000 cashier’s check. I was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment fifteen years ago. What I remember is very random because I can’t control this. I can’t choose to remember something while purposely forgetting something else. There is no rhyme or reason as to what I can remember on any given day.
Perhaps your loved one is remembering more things related to a movie because they are visually seeing it happen. They are probably very relaxed while watching the movie, no stress. The cashier’s check might have connected with a very stressful time for them. I was told by my first neurologist that too much stress would most likely increase my mild cognitive impairment symptoms. Over fifteen years, I have found that to be true for me.
