Why didn’t I say anything?

Today I went to an eye doctor appointment. I think that I have been seeing this doctor for quite a few years. When she came into the examining room, she asked me if I have had any “floaters”. I said “no.” In reality, I can’t remember what that word means. It wasn’t until I was driving home that I reflected on this appointment. I wondered why I didn’t tell the doctor that I didn’t remember what floaters are. I could have been embarrassed and that is why I didn’t ask for an explanation. I don’t really remember if she knows about my memory impairment. I’m pretty sure that at some visit she has had to explain what floaters are to me.
