Why didn’t I think of that?

I have had acid reflux for many years, but it has been controlled very well. This all changed about two and a half years ago, when I lost my health insurance. Now, I can’t afford to pay for my medication. I used to be on a prescription that worked really well, but now I take an over-the-counter drug. About one month ago, I noticed some changes in my acid reflux, more coughing related to the disease, lots more heart burn, even severe pain in my chest while eating certain foods. The over-the-counter medicine doesn’t seem to be working anymore.
Yesterday morning I had a problem related to this. Before going to work, I was eating breakfast and suddenly it felt like my food was getting stuck. I took some tums and thankfully it seemed to work and I was able to make it to work.
Last night, when I returned home after a long day of work, a friend called me. I told her about my very bad morning and she asked me if I tried to wash my food down with a drink. I said yes, but in thinking about that today, I don’t have a clue if this was true or not, since I don’t remember. Some of details of this incident are gone! Poof!!
I guess for most people, it would be pretty obvious to try to drink some water, but sometimes for me things are not so obvious. Last night when I was talking to my daughter, I told her about this and I also told her that I probably can’t afford the prescription that I need to go back on. She asked me if I could get it in Canada and I told her that I hadn’t thought of that. I should have thought of using a Canadian pharmacy, since I already get my memory medicine from there because of the savings. She said that she was surprised that I hadn’t thought about ordering it from Canada. I told her that sometimes I just can’t figure things out. I hope that she will try to understand what it is like for me living with a memory impairment.
