Why didn’t I think of that?

Today, I babysat my three granddaughters while their parents worked from home. My daughter was also taking her husband out to eat for his birthday so I was babysitting while they went out. I brought some take out from a local restaurant. It was chicken tenders and French fries for my granddaughters and I. When my daughter and her husband finished working, they came upstairs. A short time later, it was time for the girls and I to eat. My son-in-law got a cookie sheet and placed a silicone baking mat on it. Then we placed the chicken and French fries on the mat and placed it in the oven.
One Christmas one of the gifts from my daughter was some silicone baking mats. I know that I have used them but only when the recipe tells me to do so. I have never even thought about using them when the recipe doesn’t call for it. I have also never thought about using them on the cookie sheet to heat something up in my oven.
When I think about it, I’m pretty sure that most people use them like my daughter and son-in-law rather than the way I use them. I wonder why I couldn’t figure this out on my own. Is it because I live with a memory impairment? I know that mild cognitive impairment sometimes makes it difficult for me to problem solve.
