Why I might not be able to respond to someone

I think that my response to someone is largely based on whether I comprehend their words. I also need to remember the words long enough to be able to try to understand the words. It can be a battle sometimes. Sometimes it seems like my brain is very slow processing words. That can be very frustrating. I think that most of the time, I can figure out why I can't answer them. I also know that if I am in the thick fog, it will be very difficult and sometimes impossible to respond.
